New day, new airplane. In AF pilot training, you were required to recite emergency proceedures while standing in front of the class. You were on the spot. If you f**ked up, they crashed your plane and gave you a new problem. The reboot sequence was "new day, new plane." Of course, real life isn't that forgiving. We also had a blue screen situation: when you crashed a simulator (usually after the instructor took out all your engines and gave you max turbulence in instrument conditions) you got a blue screen to indicate that you and your crew were dead.
Occasionally, we read the transcripts of the last few minutes of a fatal mission. The most common words at the last moments were: "f**k" or "I love my wife"
