Eeek!  For a second there my new Singularity was rated #7 and climbing on the first page of the Google search for Singularity.  Suck.  Can't find it on the page now.  Now it's back.  Yahhhh!  Must be that I hit a cache server at Verizon or something when I signed back on.

First page of Google in under a month.  Splendid.  Weblogs are great.  This community is great.  Onward to #1.

Adam Logghe.  Here is a users group for hacking the Toyota Prius (the hybrid electric/gas car that gets 55 Mpg).   It has 450 members!  Discussions range from nav system replacement to system hacks to get better performance.  It isn't long before every car, appliance, and electronic system has a hacking group.

NYT.  The Afghan Northern Alliance, freshly armed with Russian weapons prepares for push on Kabul.  US airstrikes to pave the way.  While the center of gravity of the Taliban is under pressure from the north and south (southern tribes are coordinating their attacks with the Northern Alliance), the US will conduct hit and run strikes on OBL's bases.  OBL's arab fanatical arab legion will be spread thin on the ground in support of the Taliban's forced conscripts and "guarding" (a better term is monitoring) the Taliban's leadership.  This will continue for one month and then end as the snows begin at the end of November and then resume, if OBL isn't killed or captured in the spring.

NYT.  Sharon rebukes the US.  Claims US actions are similar to the appeasement of Neville Chamberlain's Munich meeting prior to WW2.  Remember "Peace in our time"?   Is this guy nuts?

Maxtor has a 160GB hard drive for $400.  TBs soon....

They also announced a new NAS (Network Attached Storage System) priced at $15,000 a TB.  Wow.  EMC was charging $1.5 m a TB a year and a half ago (maybe that explains this chart better than the economy)....
