Adam Curry. Adam is onto the way convergence between traditional media and the Internet will really work (me too). It needs to be a two-way network that grows organically via easy-to-use tools like Radio. It would be dumb to return, like many are advocating, to the interactive television schemes that died in 1994. Why? They are too complex. They cost too much. They require tens of billions in architecture investments before they can be turned on. The bandwidth isn't there yet. etc. Organic growth works better and faster. Further, it needs to be decentralized.
The first step is to get the two-way interaction working via a Radio Weblog on everyone's desktop. At the same time, tie it into mainstream media. Next, get the flow working. Learn how to do it well. Grow the flow. Increase the media intensity of the flow using enclosures. Create more media intensive interfaces. Increase the number of apps on the desktop. Multiply the networks and tie-ins to the mainstream media outlets. By the time the big players know what is happening, this type of system will be the defacto standard for interactive media.
"He picked up on my posts about an offer I received to host a national radio show in Holland. Yesterday he sent me a note about combining the two. Spot on JRo! Imagine being part of a radio network that connects to a radio network (of the broadcast variety). With "RSS "and everyone's favourite aggregator the radio show could quickly become a traditional media outlet for the stories and fun we have with our blog networks. I would function as the API. Yeah baby, xml-rpc me and do it hard :)"
