A search engine company like Google is always going to be held to a very high standard of conduct. Why? One major reason: they use other people's bandwidth and content to produce their product. We all pay the Google tax.
Of course this points to a very real fear for Google that could have been the basis of the blogger.com acquisition: there could be a day when a big searcg company pays sites to search their content on an exclusive basis. Given the state of the publishing business today, Microsoft could probably get this done with the vast majority of newspapers, e-zines, etc. for $50 m a year.
