Dave mentions that for the BloggerCon both Emerson and Dickinson should be honorary speakers (silent since they are long gone). I would suggest that we get as close to the real thing as possible. There are character actors in Concord MA for both RWE and LMA that are very well schooled in their character's view of the world. These actors work at the Colonial Inn, in Concord, during the weekends and provide excellent table by table conversation. It would really jazz this BloggerCon session up if these actors both attended and took the view of the writers relative to weblogs as panelists. Of course, they would need to be adequately prepped on the technology, but it would be a hoot.
BTW: Emerson, Alcott, Hawthorne, and Thoreau were Concord, MA residents. Less than 5 mi from my home.

Great overview of Matt Ridley's work on Nature vs. Nurture in the edge. I wonder who will be the genius (like Einstein and Newton in physics) that puts together the theoretical model for how the Genome actually works. There is definitely an underlying theoretical structure to it that will enable predicted outcomes rather than the experimental trial and error approach we are working with now.

Harry Potter mania has infected my home! Help! Marie and our two oldest children (Aaron and Rachel) went to a countdown party at a local bookstore last night. Hundreds of people were there and a line ran out the door. Amazing. The entire family has been reading the books for 4 years now and replaying them via audio CDs in the car on trips, but this is type of mania is a little much. On the bright side, it is motivating my son to polish off a 1,000+ page book in 4 days (additional motivation supplied by everyone else that wants to read it).
