KaZaA now has a plus version ($29.95) that promises no advertisements (it does not mention anything about being spyware free which tells you a lot).  The free version is getting 3 m downloads a week.  I wonder how many convert to the for-fee version?

incartabletpc.jpgThis is something Scoble would love.  A tablet PC hooked up as a GPS navigation system for a car.  I have a friend that did something like this with his laptop, Microsoft's Streets and Trips, and a GPS USB unit ($169).  The benefit is exceedingly detailed maps on a much larger screen than dedicated models.  Another upside is cost since the tablet is multi-use (you can also plan your trip while at your desk).  The downside is a lack of audio guided navigation on the good dedicated systems (correct me if I am wrong).

Yuk.  When I get the high-definition (HD) cablebox on Friday I won't be able to use my TiVo.  No solution in sight yet.  As far as I can see, there isn't a full TiVo-like solution for HD using a PC yet either (ie. an ATI all-in-wonder Radeon 9800 card and an AMD box with 120 Gb of memory).   The DishPVR 921 looks great (see at right), but it isn't pricing yet.

Web 2.0 is alive and well.  VodooPad is a WikiWiki for the desktop.  Nice

Let me refine the Web 2.0 concept.  Web 2.0 is based on desktop software that allows individuals to create n x n dynamic personal websites that run locally.
