It's funny, I am reading the Aquitaine Progression by Robert Ludlum right now. A smart director/screen writer would substitute the old generals (in the story) for soft conservative think tankers (Pearl, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Feith) and have a great movie on his/her hands right now. LOL.

NYTimes. More fears of a jobless recovery at the Fed. The unstated fear is that companies will continue to opt for more productivity improvements at the expense of new jobs. Rightly so. A jobless recovery, in combination with fears over the war will sap the strength of next year's economy is what wakes up Buh's economic advisors at night. This is part of a larger problem with the economy that Bush is ill prepared to deal with.

Boston Globe: ... the single biggest predictor that financial failure lies ahead for a family? Having children. Even just one of them.. . . According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics's Consumer Expenditure Survey, American families spent 44 percent less on appliances in 2000 than they did in 1973, 22 percent less for food (both at home and in restaurants), and 21 percent less on clothes.
