I had the same experience as Dave when I tried to buy a Dell a couple of years ago.  Everytime I ordered online, the order was cancelled (a big system BTW).  I called but couldn't get anybody on the phone after several attempts (about 1 hour plus of my life down the tubes).  I bought a Gateway instead.  Another experience with Dell:  I contacted Dell recently about warranty work on another system I own.  They told me that I was a Canadian customer and couldn't get service from the US organization.  No arguments I could make could convince them otherwise.  Go figure.  Short of a letter to the executive management, there is little recourse.

With 9/11 and the recent attacks in Istanbul, let's consider a revision to Moore's "The Second Superpower Rears its Beautiful (my revision:  Ugly) Head."   Reread this with a global network of loosely associated terrorist groups swarming on targets in mind:  As the United States government becomes more belligerent in using its power in the world, many people are longing for a “second superpower” that can keep the US in check.
