Of course, one of the earliest blizzards since the 40's (and last year's snow that was continuous from Thanksgiving to early March) may make you think of the mini ice age predicted by Wood's Hole.

PC Pro. Should Jobs line up a board seat at Disney with an eye to run it someday? No way. Eisner has savaged the company. The way things are going, Pixar will eventually own Disney (or at least its movie and theme park businesss). The movies and characters that have captured the imagination of kids everywhere are owned by Pixar. Mickey Mouse vs. Nemo or Woody? Not even a contest.

NS. Humans and soft AI compete in virtual creature game. This begs the question: why does it have to be one or the other? Why not use human intelligence in combination with AI to build creatures? This question points to the heart of the problem with strong AI research. Nature is usually a bootstrap. Human intelligence already exists, so use it as a platform for the next level of complexity.

A noreaster (a storm that comes out of the NE) is blowing into New England today. Up to 20" of snow and 20-35 mph winds over the next 30 hours. The house is completely decorated for Christmas. 2 trees and lots of other decorations. A warm fire in the fireplace and the chance to read a good book (Lawrence of Arabia by Liddell Hart) later this afternoon. Eggnog and a pork roast this evening. Kids excited sledding on Sunday as the storm dies down. Nice.
