Toronto Star.  Arafat as mafia don.  This article highlights how crime and terrorism are melding together to form a self-sustaining and violent syndicate that thrives in failed states. The question we need to answer:  will terrorists find a way to manufacture failed states in order to profit from the outcome?  If they do, how do we deal with this without overextending ourselves?  I think the answer to both questions is yes and yes (caveat: only if we adopt the correct strategies).

Unfortunately, the feature that should be in the browser (an RSS aggregator) isn't something Dave is going to ask for.  Why is this important?  A huge installed base of RSS aggregators would create an immovable force that would resist change in RSS.  RSS would bog down to the lowest common denominator very quickly and therefore remain open and accessible to all.  In RSS, a lack of any more innovation would be a good thing.

Here is one more:  "It is true that America has been through a lot during the last four years.  However, the facts are that your administration is the only administration since Herbert Hoover's to have lost jobs, let alone 2.2 million jobs.  We went through several wars, an oil crisis, and inumerable recessions since then and no President has ever accumulated such a poor record in job growth. What is your response?"

BTW:  what is the question you hoped he would ask?

 Questions I would have asked:

"So you are saying that the intelligence you based your decisions and pronouncements on was wrong."

"Would an Islamic regime in Iraq be qualified as a failure?"

"How much of you tax cuts go to people making over $1 m a year?"

"While we added some jobs in the last five months, isn't that amount nearly half a million new jobs below we need to even cover new workers entering the workforce?"

"Did you seriously believe Iraq had nuclear weapons?"

"Given the earlier false statements on Iraq's ownership of stockpiles of WMDs by your administration, does the international community and the American people trust you more or less?"

"Should the American people feel safe that our intelligence services were so wrong on Iraq?"

"Isn't the decline in the unemployment number due to people falling out of the workforce?"

"Explain to the American people why tax cuts to the wealthy and a half a trillion $$ deficit makes America a safer place."

Tim Russert is a walking/talking disaster.  It's amazing that he gets paid millions for that job, almost half of America could have done a better job.  Bush looked fine, Tim was a good coach. I am sure there is an open slot for him on Fox whenever he wants a change in scenery.

One take-away.  I am fairly sure, based on intuition and body language, Bush is lying about his service record in the Guard.  However, there isn't going to be a way to prove it (the records were destroyed long ago).
