Very cool. US News interviewed my friend John Smart who is the President of the Institute of Accelerating Change (I helped to co-found it).
People who think genetic engineering and biotechnology are going to have accelerating affects on human and social complexity are also entirely mistaken. Almost every single futurist I've talked to who advocates this simply doesn't understand the massive limitations to using our "top down" interventionist technologies on something as intricate, interdependent, and "bottom up" developed as a biological system.
BTW: Here is a large presentation (PPT) on Singularity Economics (in my view the slides are too busy for a good presentation, but they make it more interesting if viewed as an outline).

Global Guerrilla Financing. How newly emerging global guerrillas will generate funds to sustain operations. Also in a GG Journal entry: Terrorist Mercenaries: new reports on mercenaries of terror in Iraq. The mix of money and mercenaries will be a very important area to watch.

Contrast this photo selection (scroll down a bit) with this. LOL.

There does seem to be some voters remorse over Kerry. Which proves that the "horse race" voting that elected Kerry in the primary should have taken a back seat to the across the board strong positives of Edwards.

The syndication link on my Global Guerrillas site is totally non-sensical. It won't open in my browser (it forces me to save) so I can't easily copy to my aggregators subscription box. Is Atom supposed to turn off new users? Hopefully Typepad (a great application other than its funky syndication format) will add RSS support (if its there, I have missed it).

WSJ. Greenspan think the current surge in oil prices will be sustained long-term. Distant futures on oil are now $27 a barrel (~$10 a barrel higher than 5 years ago). The reason: new political risk in the Middle East. The cost to the US: $200 m a day long-term (~$400 m a day at the current price of $37 a barrel).
