WP. A recount of Perle's insider activity at the DoD. It's amazing how closely the problems in US corporate governance (insider self-dealing, a lack of accountability, etc.) are being replicated in the Pentagon.
An investigation by the Pentagon's inspector general concluded last fall that Perle had not violated ethics rules, in part because certain restrictions did not apply to him as chairman of the Defense Policy Board and in part because he "did not mention or invoke" his unpaid position when he contacted the State Department on behalf of a company.

Zinni is instigating a shareholder/customer revolt: “There has been poor strategic thinking in this,” says Zinni. “There has been poor operational planning and execution on the ground. And to think that we are going to ‘stay the course,’ the course is headed over Niagara Falls. I think it's time to change course a little bit, or at least hold somebody responsible for putting you on this course. Because it's been a failure.”
