Bloomberg. Oil prices rise in the wake of global guerrilla attacks in Iraq. Clare Baxter, a spokeswoman for the U.S.-led occupation authority said yesterday that Iraqi exports won't resume until at least Tuesday. ``A lot of the hot money has already gone into the August contract'' as people bet on another rise in prices, (an oil broker) said. Note: the markets don't care if we win or lose.

LOL. VOA. The US names Pakistan as a major non-NATO ally of the US. Mr. Hussain says that as a major non-NATO ally, Pakistan will be able to modernize its military with U.S. technology, equipment, and training techniques. Sure, let's help them build a military that is ineffective against any real threat they face.

Bruce Schneier. In a misguided effort to combat terrorism, some members of Congress want to use the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database to enforce federal civil immigration laws. Perhaps a better approach would be to provide immigrants/illegals in the US a passport/citizenship if they report a potential act of terrorism that results in prosecution. How much would that cost?

I just finished an intensive threat analysis of the Saudi oil network for my book, "Global Guerrillas." Totally unlike anything that has been published so far. I will put some of it on my site soon. Very scary and inevitable.

Global Guerrilla Target: Investments. Short term thinking is not only prevalent in our corporate world, it also pervades our security establishment. In contrast, global guerrillas are working on a decade plus time line and this approach is working.

Dennis Kennedy wrote a great review of "Thunder Run" by David Zucchino. It's the story of the coup de main seizure of Baghdad by US armor. It's next on my list of book purchases.
