The tensions between Iraq and Iran continue to heat up. The recent kidnapping of Hassan Ghomi, Iran's charge d'affairs in Iraq (and likely an Iranian agent helping destabilization of the country), by the so-called "Islamic Army of Iraq" (likely the cover for a government sponsored death-squad), demonstrate how bad things are. It isn't a revelation that Iran is funding destabilization. It is in their national interest and there have been many, many indicators of their activity prior to this. Here's what interests me: nation-state conflict between the US, Iran, and Iraq is the kind of destabilization that non-state forces need to reach the next level.
