Stern's switch to satellite radio next year puts the first nail in the coffin of terrestrial radio (I am going to switch next year since NPR is on satellite too). Terrestrial broadcast TV is nearly dead with ~70% of households on cable. What we should be thinking about is how to transition those choice blocks of spectrum to more useful purposes -- computer wireless networks.
