While Max Boot is prone to errors in his analysis of guerrilla warfare, his analysis of Burt Rutan's SpaceShipOne is right on.  As an Astronautical Engineer/pilot who left a career aimed towards getting into space (I made the decision when I saw that the space program was dead in the water after Challenger blew up), Rutan's success warms my heart.
