Juan Cole: The Internet is still an important for GG communication within Iraq (notice how this raid was near one of the most active areas for pipeline attacks). Ash-Sharq al-Awsat reported via Reuters that US troops in Beiji in the Sunni Arab center-north burst into internet cafes and confiscated the computers. Angry young computer users complained that this was the second such raid. Residents of Samarra confirmed that similar sweeps had been conducted in that city last month.
