Christopher Allbritton has some video of a classic Vietnam-style firepower-centric engagement in Iraq. Very second generation military.

Voter user experience. I voted around noon at a local school (3/4 of a mile away). 3 people for each party holding signs well outside the entrance to the school. No problem. Walked in. No line but there was a bake sale. A little confused as to what district I was in (gym was divided into two districts down the middle). Took a guess and was right. Street. Full name. No ID. Voting sheet. Drew my line to connect the arrow at a standing desk. Another check, street and name and no ID. I put my sheet into a machine face down to scan it. Nobody saw my vote. Out in 4 minutes.

More system disruption (bin Laden's economic attrition).... 3 nearly simultaneous attacks against N. Iraq oil pipelines called in aggregate the biggest attack on the oil system in Iraq to date. The main export northern pipeline (300 k barrels a day), an internal pipeline to a refinery, and a oil field pipeline were all interdicted by the sabotage. One fire was so big it covered a square kilometer of terrain. Recent system attack activity has been very high depsite measures to improve security. The import of refined products has been hit too (leading to a shortage of gasoline etc).

According to Zogby, it all comes down to whether by hook or crook, Jeb can deliver Florida (again).
Update: I was browsing through the polls taken since the last debate on the WSJ site. They cut fairly strongly towards Bush. In the last five days, the bulk of the pro Kerry polls come from the Harris online polls. I've had experience with Harris online method and totally discount any results from that source. Of course, this doesn't mean that Kerry can't win the electoral vote.

Praise for my "Global Guerrillas" from Magnus Ranstorp (the Director of the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence at the University of St. Andrews and a principal consultant on terrorism for CNN), "I ...want to commend you on encapsulating high-quality analysis on the future of terrorism and guerrilla warfare. One of the best sites I have seen in a long time." Thanks Magnus!

John Stanforth has decided to own a topic. His choice: Sir Richard Branson. Excellent choice. He also suggested that I get into screen writing for the TV show, "The Grid." Good idea, I think I could spice it up.

CSM. If the US is the arsenal of democracy. Iraq is the arsenal of terrorism.
